For me, the most important news today was seeing South Asian migrant workers - modern day slaves under Gulf exploitation - taking to the streets to protest unpaid wages and related abuse in Dubai. Naturally, there is discussion on South Asian migration to the Gulf States, capitalism and bonded labor. For this purpose, I suggest you all read Junaid Rana on the rich history of South Asian protest and radicalism along with trade unionism that isn’t just taking place in Dubai only but also in New York City.
