What I want to know is why people seem to act like calling yourself a slur is some cool fun empowered social club. slurs are dehumanizing and most people I know who have been called them (when it “matches” a truth about their lives/identities) feel a very deep and complex shame. Reclamation is a very bitter process and if you’re looking at it like “hey, how come I don’t GET to be called that?” Well you just answered your own question.
