literally nothing pisses me off more than reading about new york city from the perspective of rich yuppies. like very literally new york city is not your city. everything that makes nyc, from its social history to the actual roads and buildings and transportation service, is because of generations of working class people. its cultural significance is because of working class immigrants. its physical ability to house people and feed them and entertain them is because of the billions of hours of labor expended by working class people. i hate all the bankers and land speculators who turned manhattan into a playground for the rich and impoverished all the workers in the city who the rich rely on for their entertainment, restaurants, subway system, and retail shops and i also hate all the young white professionals who fucking move to the city or to the bedroom cities in new jersey and treat the city like it’s just some big college campus
