Wow it’s almost like the oversexualisation of queerness is one of the reasons why asexuals, non-binary folks and aromantics are not seen as queer enough to be part of the community

Alright but ace heteroromantics and arom heterosexuals aren’t ‘queer’ just so we’re clear. Haha I rhymed

I’d also like to point out how hypersexualization of ‘queerness’ is a huge fucking issue for literally everyone in the LGBT community. The view of gay men as hypersexual was used to ignore and justify their deaths during the AIDS crisis. The view of lesbians and bisexual women and trans women as hypersexual is used to justify their sexual harassment and rape. Hypersexualization is an issue even, or maybe especially an issue for those already considered ‘sexual.’

And as a lesbian who does not identify as asexual on any level but is not comfortable with intimacy, I also feel less than welcome in many ‘queer’ spaces due to the emphasis on sex. This also applies to many survivors of abuse and assault in our communities who may feel alienated when queer groups have like, “make your own sex toy night” and stuff like that.

So, I get what you are trying to say but I want to frame the conversation around hypersexualization in a way that recognizes the devastating impact it has on our community as a whole. And I want you to know that heterosexual aromantics and heteroromantic asexuals arent queer. And I have no idea why you included nonbinary people in your OP post frankly.. but anyways.
