there exists a monosexual paradigm, aka the assumption that everyone is either heterosexual or homosexual… homosexual people as monosexuals can enact horizontal aggression in the form of low level oppressive behaviors (acts of subtle bias, acts of prejudice and bigotry) against polysexuals but cannot benefit from their oppression in the way that heterosexuals do… polysexuals can likewise enact similar behaviors and attitudes against homosexuals. the concept of “monosexual privilege” is offensively hyperbolic and erases the reality that most of the time, queer people of the poly or mono varieties experience oppression in similar ways and experience higher levels of oppressive behavior (acts of violence, genocide, etc.) because of the thing they have in common. gay people are not carrying on a pattern of lasting, substantial material harm to bisexuals and certainly do not possess a “privilege” over them. the word itself is beginning to lose its edge…
