A Marxist-Leninist-Maoist professor at an Ivy League school was giving a lecture on the Russian Revolution. “I challenge any student,” he said, “to tell me how a revolution can occur without a vanguard party.” A heroic student from the back of the classroom stood up and ripped open his flannel to reveal a shirt emblazoned with the words “SPAIN 1936.” Pensively, in a soft voice, he answered: “you just think the workers are stupid.” The professor was visibly shaken. He furiously began beating his desk with his copy of the official USSR-censored Collected Works of Vladimir Lenin while reciting the Constitution of the CPSU.
